A quote is a starting point for a conversation, not a price tag.
What a quote actually is
A quote is an estimate, not an offer of insurance. It is what a carrier may charge someone with the details you have given me, before anyone has verified those details.
The number that ends up on your policy comes from the carrier’s underwriting, which may consider your health history, prescriptions, and other factors. It can come back higher, lower, or unchanged. Coverage, eligibility, and rates are never guaranteed until a policy is actually issued, and products and availability vary by state and by carrier.
I say this first because a quote is easy to mistake for a price. It is a starting point for a conversation, and the conversation is the part that helps.
What I’ll ask you
- Your date of birth, and the state you live in.
- Whether you use tobacco or nicotine in any form.
- Roughly what you want the coverage to do: replace income, cover a mortgage, handle final expenses.
- A general sense of your health, at the level you would describe it to a friend.
- What feels comfortable in your monthly budget.
What I will never ask for on this website
If a form on any site asks you for these before you have applied for anything, stop.
- Your Social Security number.
- Bank account, routing, or card numbers.
- Passwords to any carrier or account.
- Your full medical history or records.
Prefer to just talk?
Plenty of people find it easier to say it out loud than to type it into a box. Call 920-328-5403, or pick a time on my calendar and I will call you.
Questions about getting a quote
Is a quote the same as being approved?
No. A quote is an estimate based on what you tell me. The carrier makes the actual decision through underwriting, which may look at your health history, prescriptions, and other factors. Your final rate can differ from the estimate, and coverage is never guaranteed until a policy is issued.
Does asking for a quote cost anything, or commit me to anything?
Neither. There is no charge to get an estimate and no obligation to apply. As an independent agent I am paid by the insurance company if and when you choose a policy, so my help comes at no extra cost to you.
Will this affect my credit?
Asking me for a quote does not involve a credit check. Some carriers may review certain records as part of their underwriting once you formally apply, and if that applies to you, I will tell you before anything is submitted.
How long does it take?
A first conversation usually takes twenty to thirty minutes. Getting estimates back from carriers can take anywhere from the same day to a few days, depending on the type of coverage and how much information the carrier needs.
What if I decide the answer is no?
Then the answer is no, and that is a perfectly good outcome. Nothing is submitted to any carrier until you say you are ready. If what you already have is working, I will tell you that too.
